Oil Painting
Oil paint is one of the most-loved mediums in the world. It has a high status in art history, and deservingly so! Oil is a gorgeous painting medium that makes an artwork look fabulous, stand out, and pass the test of time. Have we piqued your interest?
Classes are taught by our talented, professional artist members in our beautiful historic downtown building. If you’ve ever thought about taking up oils, or improving your current skill level, these classes are for you! To join a class, please reach out to one of the instructors below. You don’t need to be an NBAL Member to take classes - anyone over 18 is welcome!
Instructor: Myra Knapp
Time: Thursday 10:00 - 1:30 pm or 12:30 - 4:00 pm Cost: $220 for eight sessions including studio fee. Location: Bower Classroom Levels: Intermediate to advanced. A supply list will be sent to new students. The primary focus is the landscape and reviewing the elements that go into creating great paintings. Explore designing your painting, harmony of using a limited palette, paint application, brushwork, edges, perspective, drawing, benefits of using a value study, simplifying and loosening up your artwork and more.

Instructor: Gaye Sekula
Date & Time: First Tuesdays, 9am to noon. Class limited to 8 students Cost: $50 per session, plus $4 /student studio fee Location: Bower Classroom An intensive class designed to instruct and encourage students to dig deep and put in the work necessary to be able to express the emotions that make them tick. Assignments will be given to be worked on between sessions and students will be asked to share their results.
