Watercolor painting can feel intimidating to someone just starting out with the medium, but even if you have never picked up a paintbrush, the award-winning artist Glenn Cernosek will get you started on creating beautiful works of art with watercolors.
Some of the basic and essential techniques you will learn are: flat washes, graded washes, glazes, brush work, dry-brush, wet-into-wet, and more. You will learn how to know which color to start with when trying to mix and match a color in your reference photo or outdoor painting subject. After practicing these techniques, you’ll be ready to use them to create beautiful paintings.
No drawing experience is required. You will learn the techniques of the old masters and use them in this class to draw subjects more accurately on your watercolor paper. There will be discussions about paints, brushes, and paper sizes, weights, and textures. You will learn why certain papers and weights of paper are better suited for different types of paintings.
All art supplies required for this class will be furnished by the instructor. There are no hidden costs.
