"Abstracting the Landscape"
A Three-Day, Hands-On Workshop With Joan Fullerton March 15-17, 2027; 10 am - 5 pm daily

This workshop will allow your intuition to take precedence over logic, helping your distinctive style resonate. You will incorporate meaning into your compositions by distorting, disrupting, exaggerating, embellishing, and inventing new versions of landscape subjects. We’ll layer color, shape, and marks with printing, painting, and drawing techniques to build interest and depth.
We’ll address how to use photographs as references, how to abstract their essence, and how to give your paintings greater impact and attitude. We’ll also create landscapes within our intuitive, non-objective application of art materials, without any preconceived notions of what might develop. Color choices will be discussed in terms of mood, attitude, time of day, and emotional content.
