A Weekend Workshop with Mosaic Artist
Dolores Gonzalez-Jarvis
June 7-8, 2025; 10 am - 5 pm Daily
NBAL Members - $390
Non-Members - $430

This 2-day Weekend Workshop will begin with an introduction to mosaic art and its history, followed by a step-by-step guide to planning and arranging a balanced composition. On the first day, participants will choose their design, learn how to cut and shape tile and recycled dinnerware, and begin assembling their mosaic onto a weather-treated wood panel. The second day focuses on applying grout to seal and enhance the mosaic, cleaning techniques for a polished, professional finish, and installing hardware for easy hanging. Along the way, participants will gain valuable insight into selecting the right adhesives for durability and ensuring their finished piece is both beautiful and long-lasting.
All necessary materials are included in the class fee, making it easy to dive right into the creative process. Each participant will receive a weather-treated wood panel, a selection of vibrant recycled dinner plates and tiles, professional-grade tile glue and grout, and the necessary hanging hardware for display. No prior experience is required, and the workshop is designed for anyone interested in exploring mosaic techniques, whether they are complete beginners, experienced artists, eco-conscious creators looking to repurpose materials, or DIY enthusiasts seeking to craft unique home décor.
For safety reasons, all participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes and protective eyewear while working with tile and grout. Protective eyewear will be available for those who need it. Spaces for this workshop are limited, so early registration is encouraged. This workshop offers the perfect opportunity to explore mosaic-making in a supportive and inspiring environment while creating a piece of art that is truly your own.
