In this 5-hour hands-on workshop, participants will explore the creative possibilities of encaustic painting. We will cover essential techniques while focusing on safety and creative expression. All materials will be provided, so attendees just need to bring their curiosity and creativity.

- Introduction to Encaustic Art: A brief history of encaustic painting, from its ancient origins to modern applications, providing context for the techniques participants will learn.
- Materials and Safety: Participants will learn about the materials involved, including beeswax, damar resin, and pigments, as well as tools like heat guns, torches, and encaustic brushes. Safety precautions for working with heat and wax will be emphasized throughout.
- Basic Techniques:
- Surface Preparation: How to prime and prepare surfaces like wood panels to receive encaustic layers.
- Layering and Fusing: How to apply and fuse layers of pigmented wax using heat.
- Texture and Embedding: Techniques for adding texture, as well as embedding objects or materials (such as paper or fabric) into the wax for added depth and interest.
- Creative Exploration: Participants will have time to experiment with their own designs, guided by creative prompts and personalized feedback.
- Take-Home Artwork: By the end of the workshop, each participant will complete a unique encaustic artwork to take home, along with the knowledge and confidence to continue experimenting with this medium.
