Here's what Mary says about this show:
"The show is entitled "An Artist's Journey", and for any artist, it is just that! Most of us cannot remember when the passion for drawing with crayons started. It was very early in my life though. The journey I speak of is a layering of your abilities to paint when all the past experiences come back to you while standing in front of your easel. With every new piece of art, you have remembered something valuable and learned something new. And perhaps without realizing it, you have moved a little further down the road of your journey."

About Mary Olivia McIntosh
After 36 years as a Set Decorator in the film industry in Los Angeles, this Texas native retired to her home town to once again practice her love of art and photography.
My medium for painting is usually pastel on sanded paper with a gouche underpainting for an impressionistic lay down of color and overall texture. Subjects I like to paint result from traveling to our national parks, such as Big Bend, The Grand Canyon, Big Sur, and Zion, but there is so much to paint right here in the Texas Hill Country. Our rivers and canyons, our seasons with cedars, junipers, oaks, and fields of flowers all offer great opportunities for art.
Photography is also a passion of mine, especially photographing African animals in their natural habitat, and using these reference photos to paint in pastel, or for graphic drawings in pencil and charcoal.
I teach pastel techniques, painting in pastel, and drawing in both private and workshop classes here in New Braunfels and other Hill Country towns. I am honored to have been asked to demo for several art leagues in this area, and I display my work at Art On 12 in Wimberly and our local Art League. In 2019, I was awarded 3rd Place in the state-wide competition of Texas Woman Artists. I am a juried member of the Pastel Society of America, and I have retained my voting membership in The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 1992.
